Rider dies after Friday accident

A Fort Wayne man died Monday after a motorcycle crash last week.

Andrew R. Benevich, 26, died Monday afternoon at Lutheran Hospital, where he had been a patient since the crash, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Benevich was injured late Friday in the crash in west-central Fort Wayne.

He died from blunt force trauma, the coroner’s office said.

The crash occurred about 11 p.m. at the intersection of Thieme Drive and West Washington Boulevard.

No other vehicles were involved, according to the coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office did not know whether Benevich was wearing a helmet.

Further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been made available.

Fort Wayne police and the coroner’s office are investigating the crash.
