Teen injured skateboarding holding on to car

VAN BUREN, Ind. – Police say a northeast Indiana teenager was badly hurt when he crashed while riding a skateboard and holding onto the back of a friend’s moving car.

The 16-year-old was injured Sunday in the Grant County town of Van Buren. The Chronicle-Tribune and WPTA-TV report he was flown by a medical helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Police said the boy suffered severe head injuries but information about his condition wasn’t immediately released.

Police said the teen was holding on to the bumper of his friend’s car when the car abruptly stopped and he ran into the car on a street in the town about 40 miles southwest of Fort Wayne.
