Man dies after being hit by car

A pedestrian was killed late Thursday after being struck by a car.

Fort Wayne Public Information Officer Chris Felton said that about 11 p.m., the man was in the road in the 2800 block of East Pontiac Street, when he was struck by a car heading westbound . The driver of the car stopped and waited for police to arrive.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died. His name will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Police said they do not know why the man was in the road or whether alcohol was involved and are investigating.
