1 critically hurt in Chaddsford Drive shooting

A Fort Wayne man was shot and critically injured while answering his door Friday morning, city police said.

The victim was in critical condition at a local hospital, Fort Wayne police said in a statement.

They said they went to a home in the 6100 block of Chaddsford Drive about 9 a.m. on a report of a shooting.

Officers at the scene discovered the victim down inside his residence suffering from mutiple gunshot wounds, the statement said.

It said investigators found the victim answered a knock at his door and was shot by a man seen leaving the area in a black SUV.

No motive for the shooting has been determined, police said.

City police, the Allen County prosecutor's office and the county coroner's office are investigating.
