N. Indiana prosecutor arrested on drug charge

– A prosecutor in northern Indiana has resigned following a drug arrest in Ohio.

The South Bend Tribune reports that St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor John Rulli resigned Monday after police in Shawnee Hills, Ohio, arrested him over the weekend for possession of marijuana. Shawnee Hills is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.

The Associated Press left phone messages seeking comment at a number listed in Rulli’s name Wednesday.

A police report says 44-year-old Rulli ran when he saw an officer and threw something away from his pocket that he later acknowledged were marijuana and a pipe.

The prosecutor’s office declined comment. Rulli had been a prosecutor since 2008.
