Doctor accused of trading prescriptions for sex

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A northern Indiana doctor has been arrested on charges of illegally prescribing drugs in exchange for sex.

St. Joseph County prosecutors on Wednesday charged 65-year-old Dr. Charles Myers with two felony counts of dealing in controlled substances. He was arrested at his medical office in Mishawaka.

Prosecutors say Myers at first was paying a female patient for having sex with him at his office but eventually started providing her with prescriptions for oxycodone, Adderall, methadone and other drugs. Court documents say Myers wrote the prescriptions for her and her friends, some of whom are known drug dealers.

Prosecutors said he wrote about 150 prescriptions to the woman without a medical purpose.

Court records don’t list a defense attorney for Myers.
