Parts-maker to consolidate in Columbia City, add 20 jobs

A manufacturer of clutches and brakes is moving an operation from Illinois to Columbia City as part of a $2 million investment that will create up to 20 new jobs by 2018, state officials announced today.

Warner Electric LLC makes parts for riding mowers, farm equipment and diesel engines. The subsidiary of Altra Industrial Motion Inc. will lease a 96,000-square-foot building, where it will consolidate three existing Whitley County operations.

The facility will be modified for Warner Electric’s use and is expected to be ready for occupancy by July.
