Fort Wayne fire chief takes oath

Eric Lahey was sworn in Monday as Fort Wayne’s 22nd fire chief.

Taking the oath of office from City Clerk Sandy Kennedy, Lahey was surrounded by family and friends, who afterward hugged, shook hands and posed for pictures with him.

Lahey joined the department in 1996 and was most recently a firefighter at Station 11 on Rudisill Boulevard. He replaces Amy Biggs, who resigned May 20.

Lahey, a Fort Wayne native and Concordia Lutheran High School graduate, said he is honored to hold the position and to be able to serve the citizens of Fort Wayne.
