Fever use strong second half to beat Sun 79-65

INDIANAPOLIS – Briann January scored 20 points and led a strong second half by the Indiana Fever in a 79-65 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Thursday night.

Erlana Larkins, the WNBA’s leading rebounder, added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana. Shavonte Zellous had 14 points.

The Fever (2-3) overcame slow starts in both the first and second quarters and rode January’s intensity on both ends of the floor in the second half. After leading 30-25 at halftime, Indiana outscored Connecticut 49-40 in the second half.

Chiney Ogwumike, the league’s leading rookie scorer, finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Sun (1-4).

Fever coach Lin Dunn recorded her 199th career victory.
