  • Driver crashes, dies after police chase
    A man wanted by police died after crashing his car while being chased by officers Wednesday night, police said. The crash occurred at 6:52 p.m.

    The roads around Interstate 469 and Auburn Road have been cleared and reopened after a construction crew hit a gas line this morning, requiring patients and staff from two medical buildings to be evacuated for a time, Fort Wayne firefighters said.

Stolen scooter in crash; 1 hurt

At 2:55 p.m. Thursday, Fort Wayne police officers were sent to the 4900 block of Avondale Drive about a crash involving a scooter.

A man was transported in serious condition to a local hospital, where he was initially downgraded to critical condition, according to a statement issued by the city police department.

After he was treated, police said the man was upgraded to fair condition.

The scooter was reported stolen out of Allen County in November 2012. Police said the scooter was the only vehicle involved and that the rider lost control.
