Highway officials report results of trash pickup

More than 9,300 cubic yards of debris and 16,500 bags of trash were collected along 1,480 miles of Indiana highways during the annual Trash Bash, Indiana Department of Transportation officials announced.

Since 1997, INDOT has coordinated with Adopt-A-Highway volunteers and the Indiana Department of Correction to “spring clean” Indiana highways.

Adopt-A-Highway groups volunteered for a record 10,200 hours.
