Handler sets exit from E!

Chelsea Handler has set the date for ending her E! network comedy-talk show.

The network said Wednesday that “Chelsea Lately” will come to a close Aug. 26.

E! will set the stage for Handler’s exit with a monthlong celebration of special episodes and surprise guests.

“Chelsea Lately” has aired for seven years. It’s seen weeknights at 11.

Handler had previously said she would be leaving her show this year.

Performers tapped

Patti LaBelle, Jordin Sparks, Michael McDonald and others will join headliner Frankie Valli at “A Capitol Fourth” concert.

Organizers say the July 4 celebration at the National Mall will be hosted by Tom Bergeron of “Dancing With the Stars.”

Other performers will include Sara Evans, Kendall Schmidt and Kelli O’Hara. Composer John Williams will conduct a new arrangement for orchestra and chorus of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to mark its 200th anniversary.

“A Capitol Fourth” will be broadcast live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

Distribution change

The popular public radio show “This American Life” is getting a new distributor.

Chicago Public Media and host Ira Glass said Wednesday they will start independently distributing the show to more than 500 public radio stations. Public Radio International has distributed the show since 1997. The show debuted in 1995.
