Victims of fiery crash are ID'd

Two people who were killed in a fiery crash early Tuesday in northwest Fort Wayne have been identified.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday said Elvis Ibisevic, 31, was the driver, and Akif Avdibasic, 40, was the passenger. Both were from Fort Wayne.

When police and first responders arrived about 3:30 a.m. to the crash at Butler Road and Butler Court, they found the car fully engulfed in flames, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames, but it was too late to save either one.

Investigators found Avdibasic on the ground near the car and Ibisevic inside, according to officials.

Their deaths were caused by blunt-force trauma, the coroner’s office said.

Police said the car was going northeast when it left the road, struck a tree and then caught fire.

Police believe speed was a possible factor in the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Their deaths are the sixth and seventh traffic fatalities in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2014, according to the coroner’s office.
