Free document shredding Thursday

3Rivers Federal Credit Union will partner with the Indiana State Police, Better Business Bureau and Iron Mountain Records Management to offer free document shredding Thursday.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a mobile shredder will be in the parking lot behind the credit union's headquarters at 1615 Northland Blvd., off Lima Road.

Local residents and businesses are welcome to bring sensitive documents to be destroyed. They can watch the entire process to ensure that the items cannot be recovered.

According to officials with the Better Business Bureau, shredding unneeded documents helps keep banking account information and Social Security numbers out of the hands of identity thieves.

The groups previously offered the service March 6.
