Tonys tap celebrity presenters

Broadway and Hollywood stars will help add some glamour to this year’s Tony Awards, with appearances expected by Bradley Cooper, Kevin Bacon, Clint Eastwood, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell and Liev Schreiber.

The producers of the June 8 telecast announced an eclectic mix of stars Tuesday. Some of those overlooked this season for Tony nominations who will present awards include Zachary Quinto, Zachary Levi, Leighton Meester and Ethan Hawke.

Guard unexplained

Actress Emma Watson had an undercover armed guard with her during graduation ceremonies Sunday at Brown University, and a university spokesman says he is unable to answer questions about why.

She was photographed sitting and walking next to a woman who was wearing a cap and gown. The same woman was later seen escorting Watson without a cap and gown and with a holstered weapon, a badge and other equipment.

Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare says the woman is not a Providence, Rhode Island, officer.

When asked if the woman was a campus police officer and why the guard was necessary, Brown spokesman Mark Nickel said on Tuesday he was “not able to help.”

Watson’s publicist would not comment.
