Building new life with Habitat

Melissa Ivey hammers nails into a support brace Thursday on the roof trusses of her new home in Huntington. The Huntington County Habitat for Humanity partnered with the GM Foundation and UAW workers from GM’s Fort Wayne Assembly plant to help Ivey and her husband, Tim, build their new home after their previous one was destroyed by fire. The program allows the Iveys to put sweat equity into their home and secures them a 20-year, interest-free mortgage.
