No suspect, motive identified in shooting at Eden Green complex

– A man who was shot several times at a near-south-side apartment complex late Wednesday remained in critical condition Thursday as police continued their search for the assailant.

Officers were called at midnight to the 1300 block of Greene Street when someone phoned in a report of a disturbance near the Eden Green apartment complex, Fort Wayne police said.

Police were told one of the people involved had a handgun. As officers were on their way, reports came in of shots being fired.

When police arrived at Eden Green apartments, they found a man behind Building 7-B who had been shot multiple times. The man, who has not yet been identified, was taken in critical condition to a hospital, police said.

As officers investigated the shooting, they found a van and its owner about a block away thought to be involved. The man was detained and questioned but was later released, police said Thursday.

Without a suspect, police said they are working on establishing a motive for the shooting.
