Motorcyclist hurt badly in crash

A Syracuse man was badly injured Wednesday evening after his motorcycle hit a stopped vehicle pulling a trailer.

About 6:30 p.m., Daniel List, 56, was headed south on Indiana 13 near South Shore Golf Club when he encountered a stopped pickup truck with a trailer, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

A Turkey Creek Township EMS unit saw the crash and quickly cared for List.

He was flown in critical condition to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

The driver of the truck, Michael Gunderson, 26, of Milford told police he stopped because of other traffic on the road and suddenly felt the impact to his trailer.

List was not wearing a helmet and suffered a severe head injury, police said. He was in critical condition Thursday night, hospital officials said.
