TinCaps routed as skid hits 7

There was no ninth-inning heartbreak this time for the TinCaps, just another loss.

The TinCaps fell 10-3 to Lake County at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio, on Wednesday. It was Fort Wayne’s seventh straight loss.

The TinCaps (17-28), who lost their previous three games in the final inning, lost every game during their seven-day road trip. It is Fort Wayne’s first seven-game losing streak since April 16-23, 2011.

The Captains (16-30) took a 2-0 lead in the second on a double by Claudio Bautista.

The TinCaps cut their deficit to 2-1 when Jake Bauers scored on a Henry Charles’ single in the fifth, but Lake County responded in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run home run by Paul Hendrix.

Fort Wayne pulled within 5-3 in the sixth with a two-run homer by Franmil Reyes, but after Tony Wieber replaced starter Walker Weickel in the seventh, Lake County scored five runs on seven hits over the next two innings.

Weickel took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits. Robbie Aviles picked up the win, giving up three runs on six hits in seven innings.
