Stabbing puts ex-girlfriend in hospital

– Police late Tuesday found a woman bleeding from her chest, stomach, hands, arms and neck, injuries she said her ex-boyfriend caused after he abducted her.

Dale J. Fransioli, 49, told police the woman was stabbed when she rolled on a knife while they were quarreling.

But when police listened to the 911 call Fransioli made, they heard a woman yelling in the background that she didn't cause the injuries and saying “leave me alone, let me go,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

The woman suffered internal injuries and was in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital after the stabbing. Her condition was upgraded to serious Wednesday evening, according to hospital officials and police.

Despite her injuries, she was able to tell police that she had been smoking a cigarette when Fransioli approached her with a curved knife. The location of the abduction was not provided.

She told police Fransioli “snatched her up” and took her to his apartment on Decatur Road and that he threatened to kill her.

The woman said that after they got to Fransioli's apartment, he told her to take off her clothes, then threw her on the floor and started to stab her, according to the affidavit.

Police found blood throughout the apartment and a sickle-type knife.

Fransioli would not say anything more to police other than that he called them because of the woman's injuries.

Investigators collected dried blood they found on Fransioli and arrested him on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, battery and criminal recklessness.

He was being held Wednesday at Allen County Lockup in lieu of $30,000 bail.
