Woman dies in head-on crash with semi

A 76-year-old woman died early Monday afternoon in a head-on crash on U.S. 127 in northwest Ohio.

The crash happened at 12:20 p.m. near Walnut Grove Church, about six miles south of Van Wert, the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Van Wert Post said.

A 2012 Freightliner driven by Ben A. Bernard, 69, of Zanesville, Ohio, was going south on U.S. 127 when a 2002 Buick driven by Carole B. Dunaway, 76, of Centerville, Ohio, crossed the center line into the path of the semi, according to a statement issued by the post.

Dunaway died at the scene and Bernard was treated for minor injuries, the post said.
