TinCaps swept at South Bend

South Bend scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth Sunday to hand the TinCaps their fourth straight loss, 11-10.

The TinCaps were swept in the four-game series. the first four-game losing streak for Fort Wayne this season.

The two teams combined for 33 hits and four homers at Four Winds Field in South Bend.

Fort Wayne (17-25) took the lead with three runs in the first, and two more in the second including a home run from Dustin Peterson, his second of the season, which brought home Mallex Smith.

The Silver Hawks (25-27) had a home run of their own from Jamie Westbrook which also brought home Andrew Velazquez.

The TinCaps scored twice in the top of the ninth to take a 10-9 lead. South Bend scored two of their own to take the win and secure the series sweep.

Nick Mutz (0-2) pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up South Bend’s final two runs.

Will Locante (2-0) got the win despite giving up two runs in the ninth.

The TinCaps play a 6:30 game Monday night at Lake County, the first of a three-game series.
