TinCaps drop 3rd in a row

The TinCaps fell 4-2 to the South Bend Silver Hawks at Four Winds Field on Saturday in South Bend, pushing their losing streak to three for a fourth time this season.

Fort Wayne’s Fernando Perez opened the game on a good note with a two-out home run in the first, but the TinCaps didn’t get another run until Perez came home in the sixth on a single by Ryan Miller.

The TinCaps (17-24) didn’t lead for long as the Silver Hawks (24-17) capitalized on a throwing error and scored in the bottom of the first to tie it at 1. Another run in the third, a home run in the fourth and two errors in the fifth gave South Bend a 4-1 lead lead that Fort Wayne couldn’t overcome as it finished with four errors.

Erik Cabrera (0-3) gave up five hits and four runs in five innings and struck out five.

South Bend’s Blake Perry (2-2) gave up four hits and two runs and struck out four over 5 1/3 innings.
