Baer Field Speedway cancels weekend events

Because of nearly 4 inches of rain falling at the track this week, and more expected in the next two days, Baer Field Speedway has canceled its racing for this weekend.

"Our overflow parking lot is totally flooded and we have standing water in several different areas on the property," promoter Jon Raney said in a statement.

"We just don't see any hop

Friday night's drag races will be canceled for the fifth straight week, and Saturday's debut of the Xtreme Sprint Series also is off, the statement said. A makeup date for the sprint series event is being sought.

The speedway plans to resume stock car racing May 24.
