N. Manchester-area store cited in beer-coupon probe

A North Manchester store is among a dozen Huck’s convenience stores cited today by State Excise Police officers after a two-month probe.

The investigation revolves around $1 coupons for beer.

“Indiana law requires that alcoholic beverages be sold for the same price to all customers. Since not every customer who purchased beer from Huck’s stores during the promotional period had coupons, they were not offered the beer for the discounted price,” the state police said in a statement issued Thursday.

Excise police said each charge could carry a fine of up to $1,000 or suspension of a store’s alcoholic beverage permit for a period of time, or both.

The store at 104 Wabash Road, southwest of North Manchester, was charged with three counts of sales discrimination and three counts of media advertising, the excise police said.
