Flood watches issued

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through Thursday morning for parts of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, and a flood watch for the Eel River from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.

The flood watch is for Allen, Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties in Indiana and for Defiance, Paulding and Van Wert counties in Ohio.

Additional rainfall of about 2 inches is expected by noon Thursday in the area, which may lead to flooding, the weather service said. It said this would affect roads, farmland and possibly residential areas.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service said, the stage of the Eel River at North Manchester was 2.8 feet and steady. It said the river might rise to 9.3 feet Thursday afternoon. Flood stage is 9 feet.
