Regional police departments worked several area traffic fatalities over the weekend.

A 66-year-old man died Saturday in Whitley County after he failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into another vehicle.

About 8:40 a.m. Michael L. Sills, of South Whitley, was driving his 1989 Chevrolet truck at the intersection of State Road 105 and 1000 South in Whitley County, according to a release from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.

Sills failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2014 Chevrolet truck driven by Kyle D. Whitehead.

Sills suffered injuries to his head and was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center, according to the release. He later died.

Whitehead, 24, of Nappanee, was not injured in the crash, the release said.
