Former NHL goaltender Fankhouser to coach Fort Wayne Federals

Former NHL goaltender Scott Fankhouser will coach the Fort Wayne Federals, who play in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League, a source confirmed.

He will replace Kevin Shupenia, who had been with the Federals for each of their first five seasons playing out of the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.

Fankhouser, 38, played 23 NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers between 1999 and 2001.

He played against the Komets in the IHL with Orlando and Bloomington. His playing career ended in 2009 with the PrairieThunder.

He has been an assistant coach with Bloomington and Cincinnati of the ECHL
