Bengals take RB Jeremy Hill in 2nd round

CINCINNATI – The Bengals have taken running back Jeremy Hill from LSU in the second round of the NFL draft, showing their commitment to run the ball under new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.

Cincinnati returns BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard, who was taken in the second round last season.

The Bengals chose cornerback Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State with the 24th overall pick on Thursday night, shoring up a position that’s one of the oldest on the team. Dennard won the Jim Thorpe Award given to the nation’s top defensive back.

The Bengals also are looking to add to their defensive line. End Michael Johnson left as a free agent, and tackle Geno Atkins is recovering from reconstructive knee surgery.
