High school roundup: Vikings clobber Tigers

Third baseman Walker Spahr drove in five runs to help Huntington North survive a 15-9 slugfest on its home field against Warsaw.

The Vikings (14-4) scored five runs in the fourth inning and six more in the fifth as part of a 16-hit attack.

Winner Kory Goodrich (3-1) overcame three wild pitches and a hit batter to get through five innings.

The Tigers (8-9) got four hits and three RBI from Caleb Heckman. Starter James Brandes was shelled for 15 runs on 14 hits in four innings.

SOUTH ADAMS 5, SOUTHERN WELLS 4: The host Starfires’ Skylar Schoch hit a two-out, three-run homer in the seventh to tie it before they walked off in the eighth.

CHURUBUSCO 13, HAMILTON 1: The Eagles (11-6) got two hits and two RBI at Hamilton from Kody Poyser, who raised his average to .340.

BISHOP LEURS 13, CONCORDIA 8: The visiting Knights improved to 5-9 as Concordia fell to 6-10.

CARROLL 8, BELLMONT 3: Grant Inman struck out 13 in seven innings and went 3 for 3 for the host Chargers.


CANTERBURY 157, CARROLL 162: Michael Brothers shot a 34 to lead the Cavaliers at Chestnut Hills.


LAKELAND 6, CENTRAL NOBLE 5: Kristen Wiese’s one-out triple scored Jill Mingus in the bottom of the seventh after Central Noble had tied it in the top half on Kennedy Forker’s two-run double.


CANTERBURY 4, BISHOP DWENGER 1: Leah Barnes defeated Audrey Rang 6-2, 6-1 as part of the Cavaliers’ home victory.

NORTHWOOD 5, WAWASEE 0: The Panthers went on the road and dropped Wawasee to 0-5 in the NLC.

CARROLL 5, BELLMONT 3: The host Chargers improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the NHC.
