High school roundup: Patriots end Warriors’ win streak

Heritage ended Woodlan’s 17-game baseball winning streak with an 8-2 road win Tuesday.

The Patriots’ Andrew Saalfrank limited the Warriors to one hit, a double, over seven innings after he was staked to a 5-0 lead after three innings.

Branson Dossen went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs, and Jacque Jacquay, Collin Evans and Saalfrank each drove in a run for Heritage.


COLUMBIA CITY 11, DEKALB 1: At Columbia City, Ross Elkins limited the Barons to two hits over six innings, and Justin Dailey went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Eagles. Bryan Spangler homered for DeKalb.

CARROLL 8, EAST NOBLE 1: At East Noble, Taylor Goshen gave up one run on three hits and struck out 10 for the Chargers, and Matt Meihls drove in two runs.


NORTHROP 148, NORTH SIDE 185: At McMillen, Zack Borntreger and Mike Ankenbruck each shot a 36 to lead the Bruins.

SNIDER 155, WAYNE 213: At Brookwood, Zach Park shot a 2-under 34 to lead the Panthers.


LAKEWOOD PARK 4, BISHOP DWENGER 2: At Lakewood Park, the Panthers scored three runs in the sixth to rally after the Saints held a 2-1 lead after four innings.

Mikeila Boroff gave up two runs on three hits with 13 strikeouts for the Panthers, and Jaclyn Delagrange hit a solo home run. Jordan Schneider gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out four for Dwenger.

GARRETT 8, SOUTH ADAMS 3: At Garrett, Ashley Morris hit three home runs, finishing with five RBI, to lead the Railroaders.

Britmarie Yarian limited the Starfires to three runs, one earned, on eight hits.

HERITAGE 4, WOODLAN 0: At Woodlan, Kamio Gilreath held the Warriors to one hit and struck out 13 in seven innings, and Kendall Knapke went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scoring twice for the Patriots.

ADAMS CENTRAL 9, BLUFFTON 8: At Adams Central, the Flying Jets scored five in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 6-4 deficit and hold on against the Tigers, who scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh.
