Woman’s identity sought in theft

Fort Wayne police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who they believe gained access to an elderly woman's bank account after her purse was stolen.

A woman leaving the parking lot at Dollar General, 1133 Coliseum Blvd. N., in her car March 11 was flagged down by a woman who told her the front tire was flat.

When the elderly woman got out of the car to check the tire, another woman entered the passenger door of the vehicle and stole the woman's purse.

A little more than a week later, surveillance photos from a Wells Fargo bank branch on Bluffton Road captured a woman using the elderly woman's personal and bank information to gain access to her account and steal money.

Anyone with information about this woman is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
