Utility excavation to begin on downtown streets

FORT WAYNE – Utility excavation is scheduled to begin Thursday on several major downtown streets.

The Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering Department announced Tuesday that there will be lane restrictions Thursday and Friday between Broadway and Webster Street on Jefferson Boulevard, Washington Boulevard, Ewing Street and Fairfield Avenue.

The work is expected to continue on Monday and May 13.

Major intersections involved include Broadway at Washington and Jefferson, and Fairfield and Ewing intersections with Washington and Jefferson.

The lane restrictions will allow the contractor, Atlas Excavating, to begin utility locations for the Ewing East/West Phase 2 Storm Sewer Separation Project, the announcement said.

Lane restrictions are scheduled daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
