Wow, what a year!
I've taken the past week to reflect on the experiences, both big and small, that led to such an amazing season. When my family and I arrived here in 2007, we were simply appreciative of an opportunity – an opportunity that we hoped would allow me to play the sport I love and provide for my wife and daughter.
No one could have told me that those decisions would literally alter the course of our lives.
It's been truly amazing to see the responses to my recent success from the Fort Wayne community. As I read articles detailing what people say I have offered this city, I think to myself how one-sided that feels.
Truth is, there have been so many people here who have truly offered an abundance of love and support to me.
To the great city of Fort Wayne, you continue to believe in me and encourage me. You remind me that you are praying for me, you've taken the time to get to know my wife and children, you've offered advice when I was getting my camp business started in 2011. You've cheered me on during some times in my life when I needed it more than you would ever know. The time I have spent in Fort Wayne has been a true testament to the powers of faith, hope and love. Thank you!
I've had the opportunity to talk a lot about how amazing it was to win the championship with my teammates this year. That will go down as one of the greatest experiences of my life.
But in all this, the greatest blessing is having become a resident here. I've had unique experiences traveling the world to play here and there. But if you know me, you know that Fort Wayne has my heart and is the place we call home.
It's been an exciting year for a number of reasons. There's so much to be grateful for. I received accolades that I never even envisioned for myself. Co-MVP? Sports Illustrated? I was honored to be chosen in that open tryout for this team seven seasons ago. Who would have thought?
I've been asked what's next for me. I've learned to not make too many plans. I can only continue to work hard, take good care of myself and stay prayed up!
I believe I wasn't brought this far to stop now. In the meantime, I am enjoying quality time with the family. We are excited about our business, Game Day Sports Camp, getting back into swing June 9. We have such a good time with our campers, and my daughters are counting down the days until they reunite with their camp friends.
It will be interesting to find out what God has in store for my career going forward. That's a mystery.
But what I am sure of is that there's no better place I could have ended up than where I am right at this moment, with the people of Fort Wayne.
