Cold weather postpones Baer Field event

Baer Field Speedway's short track drag racing season was postponed Friday because of cold weather.

At 1:30 on Friday, the track temperatures were still in the mid-to-low 40's.

"We tried to run a few of our vehicles down the lanes," track officials said in a statement. "With the track temperature this low and a green track, we saw immediate wheelspin in almost every vehicle. We'd like to run, but we just can't see anyone having any fun in these conditions."

The Speedway will try again May 9.

The Saturday program of AM Stock Car practice and the Demolition Derby are still on as scheduled.
