Bishop Luers names Mark Pixley girls basketball coach

Bishop Luers has named Mark Pixley as its new girls basketball coach, according to a news release from the school.

Pixley was the junior varsity boys coach last season at Bishop Luers and the head boys basketball coach for two seasons at Eastside from 2010-12. He went 6-35 with the Blazers.

Pixley was the girls basketball coach for three seasons in Carlsbad, Calif., from 2004-07, going 57-32 and being named a Coach of the Year in 2005.

Pixley replaces Denny Renier, who stepped down in February. Renier had a 93-33 record in five seasons as head coach, and had been in the program for 27 years.

The Knights went to three straight Class 2A state title games and won the championship in 2011.
