Car-van crash kills woman near Ossian

A Dunkirk woman died Tuesday just south of Ossian when her van was struck head-on by a car, police said.

Cynthia Shrack, 55, was headed north on Indiana 1 when a southbound car crossed the centerline and hit her head-on, according to the Wells County Sheriff’s Department.

She died at the scene, police said.

The car’s driver, 17-year-old Albert Morales of Bluffton, suffered a broken femur, bruises and a head injury and was flown from the scene to Lutheran Hospital, police said.

His brother, 15-year-old Matthew Morales, had bruises and a foot injury. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, the sheriff’s department said.

Both drivers were pinned in their vehicles, police said.
