Electrical fire guts southwest home

An electrical fire seriously damaged a recently vacated home Monday afternoon in southwest Fort Wayne.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 2826 Westview Ave.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from a first-floor window and eves of the home, the department said in a statement.

Firefighters had the fire extinguished in about 25 minutes, Investigators later learned that no was living in the home.

The home suffered incurred moderate water and fire damage and heavy smoke damage, the department said.

The cause was ruled electrical and accidental.

There were no reports of injuries, officials said.
