2 moped riders injured in crash

Two women on a moped were injured, one of them critically, late Wednesday when they ran a red light and were hit by a sport utility vehicle, police said.

Police were called about 11 p.m. to West Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road. Medics took the two victims to a hospital, where one woman was listed in serious condition and the other in critical condition, police said.

Investigators learned the two were headed south on Getz Road when they entered the intersection at Jefferson Boulevard on a red light.

Police said neither woman was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation. The names of those involved in the crash were not released.
