Carroll grad dies in crash with bus

A Carroll High School graduate and advocate for bicycling to work was struck and killed by a school bus in Indianapolis Thursday morning.

Indianapolis police said 23-year-old Neil Kelty of Indianapolis was in a bike lane on the north side of Indianapolis about 7:30 a.m.

Investigators said the bus was making a left turn at an intersection when it struck Kelty. They weren’t immediately sure who had the right of way. Kelty was wearing a helmet.

The 72-year-old bus driver, Bessie Smith, was not injured, according to police. No children were on the bus.
