Nyong’o is ‘Most Beautiful’

People magazine has named Lupita Nyong’o as the “World’s Most Beautiful” for 2014.

The 31-year-old actress, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in “12 Years a Slave,” tops the magazine’s list, announced Wednesday.

Commenting on being selected for this year’s cover, Nyong’o says: “It was exciting and just a major, major compliment. I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen.”

Trials delayed

Chris Brown’s trial on an assault charge has been delayed for months after prosecutors declined to grant immunity to the singer’s bodyguard, whom defense lawyers call a key witness.

Wednesday had been set as the start of Brown’s trial. But prosecutors told a judge they won’t grant immunity to bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, who was convicted of assault in the incident. Hollosy had said that without immunity, he wouldn’t testify until he’s finished appealing his case.

•A South Florida judge has delayed the trial of pop star Justin Bieber on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license until July.

Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield on Wednesday granted a motion for a postponement sought by Bieber’s lawyers. His attorney Roy Black said more time was needed to examine evidence and make decisions about how to proceed.
