ACAC, Coliseum parting ways

The ACAC has decided not to play its annual basketball tournament at Memorial Coliseum.

In a recent vote by the league's athletic directors, the decision was made not to have the tournament semifinals and finals at the Coliseum.

The tournament has been played at the Coliseum for 60 years.

There had been on-going discussions between the venerable venue and the conference about the fate of the basketball tournament because of increasing costs and dwindling attendance.

The new format will remain similar to the old one with the early rounds being played at schools after a blind draw.

The boys and girls championship games will now be held at South Adams.

It's another change for the ACAC, which will see Garrett exit as a member after this year and be replaced by Jay County. Then in 2015, Leo will leave to join a new conference.
