Craigslist encounter ends with shooting

A man told city police he was shot in the knee early Sunday morning by a man who came to his house with a woman he met on Craigslist.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., police responded to a house in the 5600 block of Albany Court on a call about a shooting, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Officers found Jeremy L. Chagoya inside the house sitting in a pool of blood with an apparent gunshot wound to his left knee.

Chagoya told police he met a woman on Craigslist and invited her to visit him at home.

While she was in his home, the woman said she needed to go outside and when she returned, a man wearing a black mask and carrying a shotgun came inside with her, according to the police report.

Chagoya said he took his rings off and offered them to the man. The man then shot him and left through the front door with the woman. Neither had been arrested Monday, police said.

Chagoya was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to the report.
