Gunfire at complex; bullet strikes toilet

A Fort Wayne woman awoke early Friday when a bullet struck a toilet and narrowly missed her bedroom, police said.

A city officer reported hearing nine to 11 gunshots before reports came in of men running through Chapel Oaks apartments with guns.

A half-dozen bullet holes were found in the siding of an apartment in the 900 block of Oaklawn Court, a police report said, and two men were seen running away before jumping into a tan Chevy Impala.

A bullet came through the wall and hit the toilet. Had the bullet struck about a foot over, the report said, it would have gone into her bedroom.
