Wayne High teacher honored in capital

Ginger Giessler, an English and language arts teacher at Wayne High School's New Tech Academy, was recently presented with a resolution at the Statehouse. She was the 2013 recipient of the Milken Award.

"I am glad that this educator is being honored for going above and beyond for her students," said Rep. Casey Cox, R-Fort Wayne. "Ms. Giessler's exemplary work has not gone unnoticed."

Known as the "Oscars of Teaching," the Milken National Educator Award is the largest teacher recognition program in the nation. The award was developed by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and reward the highest-quality K-12 teachers.
