Reading program expands partnership

The Fort Wayne TinCaps, Longe Optical and WFWA-TV PBS39 on Wednesday announced a multiyear partnership to expand the TinCaps Reading Program.

The program encourages students to read by setting individual goals for number of books, number of pages, hours spent reading and other initiatives. Each student “rounds the bases,” hitting benchmarks until the final goal is reached. With that milestone comes a free ticket to a TinCaps game, a hot dog and soft drink. Participating schools can also receive a visit from Johnny, the TinCaps’ mascot.

Longe Optical will make sign-ups for the program available at all of its retail locations. PBS39 will continue its sponsorship of the reading program.
