  • Mad Ants release schedule
    The reigning D-League champion Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network, will tip off their eighth season in the NBA Development League at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 when they play host the Sioux Falls Skyforce at the Coliseum.

    The Mad Ants will hold an open tryout in Suwanee, Georgia, (outside Atlanta) on Oct. 4. It will be at the Suwanee Sports Academy from 1 to 5 p.m. Players interested should visit www.fortwaynehoops.
  • Mad Ants lose rights to 2 in expansion draft
    The D-League’s Westchester Knicks held an expansion draft, getting the rights to two players from the Mad Ants: forward Luke Harangody and guard Brady Morningstar. Neither played last season for Fort Wayne.

Mad Ants open semifinals with win

The Mad Ants opened the D-League semifinals with a 113-111 victory over Sioux Falls on Thursday night in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Mad Ants erased a 10-point deficit in the game's final five minutes, and Tony Mitchell seals the victory with his play in the final 80 seconds.

Mitchell tied the game at 109 with a pair of free throws with 1:20 to play and gave the Mad Ants a 111-109 lead with 29.2 seconds left.

DeAndre Liggins knocked down two free throws with 24.7 seconds to tie the game, but Mitchell hit a running jump shot with 4.2 to play to give the Mad Ants a 1-0 lead in the three-game series. Liggins missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

Sadiel Rojans led the Mad Ants with 20 points, and Mitchell finished with 19. Will Frisby, Ron Howard sand Matt Bouldin each had 14 points for Fort Wayne, and Trey McKinney Jones had 12. Chris Porter had 10.

Henry Walker led the Skyforce with 24 points. Liggins and A.J. Davis each finished with 19 points, and Tre Kelley added 14. Larry Drew II scored 12.

The series shifts to Memorial Coliseum with Game 2 starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
