582 pounds of pot seized at north-side house

FORT WAYNE – Two men are in custody after police converged on a north-side house Tuesday, seizing about 582 pounds of marijuana, according to a statement issued Wednesday by Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel, spokesman for the Allen County Sheriff's Department.

After seeing a delivery to the house in the 8000 block of Auburn Road, the Allen County SWAT team moved in, aided by the Allen County Drug Task Force, Indiana State Police, ICE, Fort Wayne Police Department, DEA and New Haven Police.

After officers moved in, they found the 550 pounds of pot that was delivered and an additional 32 pounds already pre-packaged for sale, the statement said.

The total street value was estimated at more than $580,000.

Luis E. Perez, 49, and Alvaro A. Rivera, 23, both of Fort Wayne, were arrested and charged with dealing marijuana.
