Guilty plea set on porn charge

– A former Huntington Youth for Christ worker will plead guilty to a federal sex crimes charge, admitting he solicited explicit images from young boys.

On Friday, Nathan Burl Hasty, 36, filed a plea agreement in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne.

He will appear before U.S. District Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey next week to formally enter the plea.

According to the terms of the agreement, Hasty is pleading guilty to the first count of the three-count indictment – sexual exploitation of children.

As part of the agreement with federal prosecutors, Hasty will be sentenced to 15 years in federal prison, while the remaining counts – receiving visual depictions involving an actual minor engaged in sexually explicit activity and possessing visual depictions of an actual minor engaged in sexually explicit activity – will be dismissed.

Arrested on a criminal complaint in late September 2012 and indicted a few weeks later, Hasty was scheduled to stand trial in July. He has remained in federal custody since his arrest, according to court documents.

Court documents allege Hasty used three fake Facebook accounts to contact boys and girls, starting with some online flirting to gain their trust. At some point, the conversations would turn sexual.

Two of the Facebook accounts – one under the name Sydney Jones with an email account Sydney_bella@hot; the other under the name Rachel Johnson with an email account of – were used to target boys.

Hasty used these accounts to pose as a 16-year-old girl and admitted to investigators he contacted boys in his youth groups, according to court documents.

He would send messages to dozens of boys, flirtatiously engaging them before steering conversations toward sex, according to investigators.

Then he would ask for pictures of them – preferably in their underwear, shirtless or naked, according to court documents.

Investigators wrote in court documents that Hasty would also ask the boys to take part in webcam or Skype sessions, although these would be one-way affairs as he claimed not to have a camera and could only watch.

He also told boys to send pictures to his iPod, which he said could only receive texts and not make calls.

With a third Facebook account – this one under the name Matt Kramer with an email address of – Hasty posed as a 19-year-old man.

With this account, he would contact boys and girls, though court documents do not indicate how old those boys and girls were. Through the account, though, Hasty asked similar sexual questions.

Hasty was suspended from Youth for Christ in July 2012, the day FBI agents went to his home to question him.

The board of directors fired him in September 2012.
