Fire damages west-side home

Firefighters were called to the 1500 block of Richardson Street west of Sherman Boulevard about 4:40 a.m. on Sunday and found fire coming from the side of the one-story home, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Crews had to deal with a downed electrical line that was attached to the home, and had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, the fire department said.

The house was abandoned at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
